It is the vision of San Diego Neonatology, Inc. to achieve optimal outcomes for infants through leadership in clinical expertise, compassionate care, technology, and research. As part of achieving our vision, we are pleased to announce we have expanded and enhanced our neonatal facilities and program to include:
• The expansion of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Sharp Mary Birch Hospital for Women and Newborns was completed in early 2013. This Level III, 84-bed NICU is one of the largest in Southern California and ranks among the top centers in the nation for NICU infection prevention. The facility includes more private family space which helps create an ideal healing environment for nurturing our tiny, fragile patients.
• San Diego Neonatology, Inc. offers complex care coordination. Complex care requires detailed coordination. Our staff is committed to a multidisciplinary, family-centered care philosophy that supports a wide-range of care management allowing families to become active, informed care partners.
• Our staff collaborates with physicians at many facilities throughout San Diego County to provide the most advanced diagnostics and treatment available to both the mother and fetus before, during and after the infant’s birth.
• Recently, San Diego Neonatology, Inc. physicians have worked with Sharp Health Care staff to form The Sharp Neonatal Research Institute (NRI) whose mission is to improve the outcomes for all newborn infants by providing the latest scientific evidence on the best ways to care for our newborns. The NRI is comprised of physicians, nurses, respiratory staff, research staff, data analysts, and the Sharp Healthcare Foundation.
